On Friday 13th March (no, really!), The Wisdom Factory played host to 7 participants on the acclaimed ‘Frontrunners’ leadership course, facilitated by Louise Teboul of commonpurpose.org. Louise asked us to set them a genuine challenge to be solved in 2 and a half hours! For her part she promised to send us a diverse bunch – she wasn’t joking!
The group included someone who might just be able to fix the Large Hadron Collider with a spanner, a young entrepreneur determined to retire at 35, and someone who has appeared in the Harry Potter films who in years to come we might see walking up the red carpet on Oscar night! All were impressive in their own way.
Equipped with nothing but a few pens, some post-its and a wifi connection, they had to assess the challenge (in this case, a marketing challenge), work out the options, and then present their solutions to myself as Head of Training.
Most inspiring was the way they managed to gel as a group. They were on the final challenge of an intensive 3 day course and were strangers to each other just 48 hours prior. They brought energy and passion to the task yet at the same time worked as a great team – a lesson there for many!
And by the way, they came up with some great ideas. Perhaps youthful energy and passion can sometimes match experience. Now if they could retain those qualities andadd experience ……. then we might all hear from the ‘Front Runners’ again!
